The 2027 Can-Am DS 250 is the last step before a full-size ATV: a liquid-cooled 250cc engine, an automatic CVT and a larger chassis, with a throttle limiter still on board.
Who the DS 250 is for
Teens and smaller adults who have outgrown youth ATVs but aren’t ready for a full-size machine.

DS 250 vs. Outlander 500
The DS 250 is lighter, sportier and easier to manage. The Outlander 500 is a full-size 4×4 utility machine. For a new or smaller rider, the DS 250 is the easier start.
Common questions
What else does my young rider need?
A properly fitted helmet, goggles, gloves, boots, and long sleeves and pants, plus adult supervision every ride. Ask us about ATV Safety Institute rider training as well. It’s the best money you’ll never spend on parts.
How old does my rider need to be for the DS 250 in Virginia?
The manufacturer recommends it for riders 14 and up, but Virginia law is stricter: riders under 16 are limited to ATVs of 90cc or less (70cc or less under age 12). With a 250cc engine, the DS 250 is legal in Virginia for riders 16 and older. For younger Virginia riders, the Renegade 70 EFI and YFZ50 are within the limits. Ask us if you’re unsure what fits your rider.
